As Corporate Vice President of Human Resources for Boyd Gaming Corporation, Chris Smith oversees all human resources functions for one of the largest and most respected casino entertainment companies in the United States.
An industry veteran with over 20 years of gaming experience, Smith first joined Boyd Gaming Corporation in 2015. He was promoted to Senior Director of Human Resources in 2018, and Vice President of Human Resources in 2019.
As head of human resources, Smith played a critical role in helping navigate Boyd Gaming and its team members through the COVID 19 pandemic and related property closures. During his tenure with the Company, Smith also led the development and implementation of the customer service experience initiative “I am Boyd Style” and hiring strategy for 29 properties throughout the country, significantly strengthening the engagement of team members and better positioning the Company as an employer of choice.
Prior to joining Boyd Gaming, Smith worked for 15 years at Harrah’s Entertainment (now Caesars Entertainment) in a variety of corporate and property human resources leadership roles. Smith played a key role in the openings of several gaming properties including Harrah’s Resort Southern California, Horseshoe Baltimore and Horseshoe Cincinnati.
Smith has previously served on the San Diego Human Resources Forum Board of Directors and President of the UNLV College of Hotel Administration Alumni Association.
